Economic Impact of FDI

The economic impact of FDI is an important contributor to Ireland’s economic performance over the past several decades by providing direct and indirect jobs, bringing new skills and new innovations in business models and technology to the country. Each year FDI companies spend €22bn in the Irish economy. In addition, the FDI base in Ireland is the key contributor to private sector R&D expenditure in Ireland employing the largest amount of R&D staff including the majority of technical R&D staff.
